Privacy Policy

The short version: MyKasa is a budget planning tool that does not connect to bank accounts, process transactions, or store sensitive financial data. On the free tier your data stays on your device. On paid tiers we store your budget data to enable sync, but we never sell it or use it for advertising.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash). If you sign in with a third-party provider, we receive basic profile information from that provider.

Budget data

This includes the account names, income sources, expense items, and amounts you enter into the app. On the free tier, this data is stored locally on your device. On paid tiers, it is stored on our servers to enable cloud sync across devices.

Usage data

We collect anonymised usage analytics (pages visited, features used, session duration) to improve the Service. This data is collected via Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity and does not include your budget data.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

  • Bank account numbers, sort codes, or routing numbers
  • Credit or debit card details (payments are handled by our payment processor)
  • Transaction history or actual account balances
  • Data from bank feeds or open banking connections

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain the Service, including calculating transfers and projections
  • To authenticate your identity and secure your account
  • To send service-related notifications (billing, security, feature updates)
  • To improve the Service based on anonymised usage patterns

4. How We Protect Your Data

Data in transit is encrypted using TLS. Data at rest on our servers is encrypted. Passwords are hashed and salted. We follow industry-standard security practices and regularly review our infrastructure. Access to user data is restricted to authorised personnel only.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal or budget data. We may share data with:

  • Service providers who help us operate the Service (hosting, analytics, payment processing), under strict data processing agreements
  • Law enforcement if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or the public

6. Cookies and Tracking

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We also use analytics cookies (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity) to understand how the Service is used. You can disable non-essential cookies through your browser settings.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction or deletion of your data
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent for non-essential data processing
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

8. Data Retention

We retain your account and budget data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal and budget data from our servers within 30 days. Anonymised analytics data may be retained indefinitely.

9. Children's Privacy

MyKasa is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice within the Service. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
